Frequently Asked Questions
Are these really free?
Yep. I am choosing to make the prompts free, through a Creative Commons license, because I always appreciate the photographs that we have been allowed to use through the same license.
Why don't you do video prompts?
Some people love video prompts. However, I don't have a ton of experience (and yes, I weigh experience in tonnage) with video or even with .gifs. Heck, I don't even know if it's supposed to be pronounced with a soft or a hard g. If anyone ever wants to make cool video or gif prompts, let me know and I'd be glad to add them.
How do you use them?
I typically use these as warm-ups or as enrichment activities. Lately, students have been looking at these to get some ideas for blogging.
What about other languages?
It would be easy to create prompts in other languages through a translation program. Unfortunately, there is a nuance to language, with cultural and social layers that I might miss in the process. However, all prompts have a link to the original picture, so feel free to use them and translate them into a different language if you desire.
